Can Any Dentist Help Me Get DenturesWhen you get dentures you will have them in your mouth during the majority of your waking hours. This means you will wear them when you eat, smile, and interact with others. They will be viewed as a part of you by other people. A pair of dentures that do not fit properly can cause you pain and make everyday tasks like eating and talking difficult. If your dentures do not look good it can create a situation where you do not want anyone to see them when you talk or smile. Designing and fitting dentures that look and work well is a skill that takes time and training to learn. There are a number of dentists and discount companies that offer dentures that are made quickly and for very low cost. The problem in many of those situations is that the dentures you get are not customized enough to fit and look the way you hope. You can avoid the disappointment of getting an ill-fitting pair of dentures by working with a dentist who has additional training in designing and fitting dentures.

One size does not fit all

When it comes to getting dentures that work properly and look natural customization is key. Your mouth and facial structure are unique and what works for you is not going to work for the next person. If you want to get dentures that function as they should then you need to work with a dentist that can customize them to your needs. Dentist who provide discount dentures with a quick turnaround often do so by offering a semi-custom product. Getting dentures that are not completely customized to your needs can quickly lead to issues. If you are working with a dentist who offers dentures be sure and ask about their process for designing and fitting the dentures. The answers to those questions can help you determine if you will be getting dentures that are made just for you. One size does not fit all when it comes to getting dentures.

Look for a dentist with additional training in this area

If you are serious about getting the best fitting and looking dentures possible then you need to look for a dentist who has additional training in this area. Dentists who go to school specifically to help people who need dentures or implants are called prosthodontists. Prosthodontists receive an extra three years of training in order to provide patients who need dentures with the highest level of care. The education they receive includes training dedicated to the skill of designing and fitting dentures. When you choose to have a prosthodontist create your dentures you will benefit from that extra training and experience.

The fit and look of your dentures will impact your life on a daily basis. There are many dentist that offer dentures in their practice but not all of those dentists have additional training in working with dentures. Do not settle for a ‘one size fits all’ approach to getting your dentures. Work with a prosthodontist for your denture needs so you can get the highest level of care and expertise available.
