We have many patients with dental insurance such as Delta Dental, United Concordia and Met Life. We will work to maximize your coverage and we work with almost all dental insurances. We do all the paperwork for you. We even file electronically for the fastest reimbursement. You are fortunate to have dental insurance to help assist with paying for dental care.
WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO BE A "PARTICIPATING" DENTIST?
It means that the dentist has signed a contract with an insurance company, such as Delta Dental or United Concordia to accept lower fees. This is very profitable for dental insurance companies. They build big buildings and pay their CEOs lots of money!
We periodically review these plans to determine if we can provide up to date, compassionate care using modern, antiseptic equipment without cutting corners. We prefer to provide the highest quality, comfortable care for you and your family and remain an unrestricted, out of network provider.
DOES MY INSURANCE WORK IN YOUR OFFICE?
Absolutely. We will file all your claims for you. (Unless it's an HMO which we won't go near!)
WOULD I SAVE ANYTHING BY GOING TO A DENTIST THAT WILL SIGN CONTRACTS WITH INSURANCE COMPANIES?
Sometimes yes, sometimes no. It really depends how much your employer is willing to spend on your policy. In the end, as with anything, you have to decide if you want the cheapest or the best. In every industry there will always be someone willing to provide a lower quality service for less. Most people choose their dental care based on the quality of the dentist and the office rather than on the insurance company their employer happens to have that particular year.
IS THE DENTIST JUST TRYING TO CHARGE MORE BY STAYING OUT OF NETWORK?
Well, let's put it this way. Suppose you were a nurse on a busy floor. You worked hard running from room to room attending to the needs of your sick patients. One day the hospital told you that for certain patients, with a new insurance plan, you would only get paid half your regular hourly salary. In addition you may only spend 5 minutes with these patients, about half the time you were used to. Also, cheaper bandages and paper sheets must be used for patients with this particular insurance!
We simply don't want to be put in that position with your dental care. Just because your employer has elected to buy the cheapest plan doesn't mean we should treat you any differently.
OK. I UNDERSTAND THAT SAMUELS DENTAL ARTS CHOOSES TO REMAIN OUT OF NETWORK. WHAT ARE SOME OF THE DIFFERENCES I WILL SEE IN YOUR OFFICE?
Some of the differences in our office can easily be listed. Some are felt simply by the way we treat you and respect you and your time. Here are a few we can list so you can compare with other practices.
Dr. Samuels and Dr. Berger are pleasant, gentle, competent and compassionate. Dr Samuels teaches at the University of Maryland and maintains fellowship in the Academy of General Dentistry. Dr. Berger also teaches at the University of Maryland and is the only board certified, prosthodontist specialist in the area.
We hope we have answered some of your questions about dental insurance. We are happy to do a complimentary insurance check for you to determine the limitations of your particular plan. We will do all the paperwork for you. For anything not covered by insurance we offer no interest financing. In our practice it is you, as a person, that is important to us and not the plan your employer has happened to pick for you this year.
We put together a video of some of the most common questions about insurance that we get.
We will get back to you promptly!
